My story

How it started

My journey into photography began long before I ever picked up a camera. As a scientist, my technique of choice was microscopy. Whatever you were studying, whatever your hypothesis, imaging data was often the most convincing. Even in science, seeing is often believing. In many ways, photography became a natural extension of microscopy. Both take patience, careful observation, and an eye for details other people may miss.

When my son was born, that love of "seeing" and documenting the world took on a much more personal meaning. I bought my first Nikon camera and kit lens from Costco, simply hoping to capture the moments passing far too quickly.

As he grew, the camera followed us onto the basketball court and football fields. The speed, the challenge of freezing a moment that lasted only a fraction of a second hooked me completely.

What started to preserve memories of my son has grown into a passion for telling stories through images, whether I'm photographing an event, creating a professional headshot, or capturing the intensity of a Friday night football game under the lights.
